To help raise awareness of Platelet Function Disorders (PFDs), we have created a series of fact sheets on the 2 types of disorders that are diagnosed.
An introduction to these fact sheets can be found here and a definition of terms is also available. There is also information on the life stages of a Platelet Function Disorder (PFD) for both girls/women and boys/men.
There are platelet disorders with normal platelet counts, which include:
And there are platelet disorders with low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia), such as
- Bernard Soulier
- Wiskott-Aldrich (WASP)
- Grey Platelet disorder
- MYH9-related disorder
- ETV6 – coming soon
The format of each of these information sheets is the same, giving the reader details on ‘what the disorder is’, ‘who suffers’, followed by ‘what are the symptoms, ‘diagnosis’ and ‘treatment’.
